Animals Take Cover at Kingston Zoo as Tropical Storm Grace Hits Jamaica

Zookeepers braved heavy rain and wind gusts to check on the animals at Kingston’s Hope Zoo, as Tropical Storm Grace hit Jamaica on August 17.

Grace brought damaging winds of 85 kilometers per hour (about 50 mph), and at least 80 milimeters (3 inches) of rain to areas of country, the Jamaican Met Service said.

The storm is forecast to become a hurricane on Wednesday, August 18, as it moves away from Jamaica, they said.
