Some animals dead in barn fire near Coopersville

WRIGHT TWP. — Some animals died in a barn fire near Coopersville early Wednesday, firefighters said.

The blaze started around 4:15 a.m. Feb. 8 in a barn on Arthur Street between Juniper Drive and Victory Lane in Wright Township. The fire department responded and was able to put out the fire, but the barn was destroyed.

The barn, firefighters said, housed around 30 animals. About 90 percent of the animals escaped, according to Fire Chief Jon Alkema. No humans were injured in the fire, which remains under investigation.
