If you want to get a coronavirus vaccine, but don't have a ride -- there's now a way for you to get your shot.
- And Meanwhile Maryland opens its 11th mass vaccination site and this time it's in Anne Arundel County. WJZ Live at 6 o'clock tonight, Stetson Miller tells us all about it from Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Hey, Stetson.
STETSON MILLER: Hey there, Rick. This is the very first mass vaccination site here in Anne Arundel County. And on its very first day people who got vaccinated here said, it was quick and easy to get their shot.
MONA EL AMIOUNI: I am very excited.
STETSON MILLER: Mona El Amiouni was one of hundreds of Anne Arundel County locals happy to get their first COVID vaccine shot at this new mass vaccination site at Navy Stadium.
MONA EL AMIOUNI: And we just can't wait to end this and everybody go back to their normal life.
STETSON MILLER: This site opened on Thursday morning with 500 vaccination appointments available. But it will eventually be able to immunize up to 1,500 people per day. It's one of 11 active mass vaccination sites in Maryland now and the first in the county.
NILESH KALYANARAMAN: I think part of our plan was to open up-- open up a vaccination site at the stadium. In the first few months there really wasn't enough vaccines to be able to do that.
STETSON MILLER: Marylanders that got their shot here, says that the site seems to be running very smoothly so far.
- This is really fast. I'm really--
JUSTINE PARRISH: Efficient. Everyone is awesome in there.
- The whole thing was maybe about 20 minutes.
STETSON MILLER: And they say they're happy to have it and they are hoping that as more of Maryland gets vaccinated, they can soon return to some sense of normalcy.
MONA EL AMIOUNI: I just want to travel, you know. We've been stuck at home for a long time.
STETSON MILLER: And people that got vaccinated here got the Moderna shots today, but that changes based on availability. Now there is free transportation here for anybody that needs it provided by the city and the county. Head to our website www.wjz.com to find out how to get it.
We're live in Annapolis, Stetson Miller for WJZ.
