Actress Anne Heche is in worse shape than initial statements implied after she crashed into a home over the weekend, her rep said Monday.

“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition,” the rep told Deadline. “She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention. She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

She at first had been reported in “stable condition,” albeit with severe burns and intubated, after first responders pulled her out of the burning Mini Cooper in the Friday accident.

The 53-year-old actress was driving at around 11 a.m. Friday when she careened into a two-story home in the west-side Los Angeles neighborhood of Mar Vista.

Though a warrant had been obtained and her blood tested for possible DUI, it was not clear Monday whether misdemeanor DUI charges would be levied, and for a hit-and-run. She had apparently been in a minor accident before the fiery crash, and driven off.

The home’s resident, Lynne Mishele “very narrowly escaped physical harm,” states a GoFundMe drive organized by neighbors. They have raised more than $91,000 to help her rebuild.
