Actress Anne Heche is in a coma and remains in critical condition tonight, according to statements made by a representative.

Heche has been in the hospital since Friday, following a devastating car accident in California.

“At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition. She has a significant pulmonary injury requiring mechanical ventilation and burns that require surgical intervention,” the rep said in a statement shared with Deadline.

“She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since shortly after the accident.”

The new statements come two days after sources close to Heche confirmed that the Emmy-nominated actor was involved in a fiery crash over the weekend and hospitalized with injuries she sustained during the wreck.

As previously reported, Heche's crash occurred at 10:55 AM on Friday, Aug. 5 in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles.

Heche's vehicle was said to be traveling at a high rate of speed before crashing into a home and igniting a fire which burned through both the car and house.

According to TMZ, Heche was involved in a minor accident at an apartment complex right before the fiery incident–a scene she's accused of speeding away from before crashing her car into a LA home.

After the accident was reported, reps for the star originally reported her condition as "stable" to multiple outlets.

"Anne is in the ICU, she's lucky to be alive. She has severe burns and has a long recovery ahead," a source close to Heche reportedly told CNN on Saturday morning.

The rep continued: "Her team and her family are still trying to process what led up to the crash."

While Heche's condition remains in critical condition, the cause of the collision is still under investigation as the actress was filmed driving erratically and is accused of being involved in another wreck just minutes before the incident.

A spokesperson for LAPD also told Yahoo! that police have obtained a warrant for a blood sample to determine if the actress was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
