Annual Cripple Creek Ice Festival returns for two weekends

(CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo.) — Cripple Creek, located at the base of Pikes Peak, is getting ready to host one of the coolest events in Colorado, the 21st Annual Ice Festival!

This year, the Ice Festival will run from Feb. 17-25 and include larger-than-life ice sculptures, food and retail vendors, and interactive activities for the whole family. FOX21’s Krista Witiak takes us to Bennett Avenue, where preparations for the event are well underway!

The Ice Festival is one of the most attended events in Cripple Creek and greatly benefits the local community. Some of the top carving teams in the country are participating in this event, including SNICE Carving, Cool Hand Ice, The Bear Spot, The Ice Farm, and Ice Castles.

The Ice Fest also has an interactive competition between carvers with the main carvings on Bennett Avenue. Event attendees vote on their favorite sculptures using a QR code throughout the festival. The votes get totaled on the final day, and the winning team receives a cash prize.

As always, this event is free and open to the general public. Carvers will be working on their sculptures throughout the event. For more information about the Ice Fest, visit visitcripplecreek.com/event/2024-ice-festival.
