Annual Easterseals Telethon fundraiser taking place Friday

The 46th annual Annual Easterseals Telethon starts in the early hours Friday to raise money for the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center.

In collaboration with WEHT/WTVW, the all-day event will stream from Easterseals, located at 3701 Bellemeade Ave. Additional streaming will be on their Facebook page.

According to the Easterseals website, the center serves some 5,300 individuals with disabilities from a 31-county area in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Services are provided on a sliding scale regardless of ability to pay.

The goal of this year's telethon, organizations officials said, is to share the Easterseals mission, celebrate the impact of the organization in the community and encourage donations.

Funds raised will help to provide inclusive early education and essential therapy services for local children and adults with disabilities.

What will be aired during the telethon?

Viewers will see interviews with local children, adults and families that have been served by Easterseals, special video segments, local groups competing in the "Dialin' & Duelin' for Dollars," impact stories from local Easterseals adult ambassador Michelle Schmitt and child ambassador Waylon Jackson and special guests.

Will there be public seating at the telethon?

There will be no audience seating inside this year to allow therapy service to continue throughout the day but the public is invited to enjoy outdoor activities that are planned.

Hosted by E'ville Iron Street Rod Club from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be classic cars, street rods, and other vehicles will be on display.
