Annual MLK Community Celebration in Canton postponed due to weather, road conditions

CANTON – The 47th annual MLK Community Celebration has been postponed due to weather and dangerous road conditions.

Leila Green Alliance of Black School Educators made the announcement on its Facebook page. The event was scheduled for noon today and was to be streamed on Facebook.

Michael Pressley Sr., pastor of Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, was the guest speaker. Honorees were Myra Watkins, Karen Kalk Okey, Susan D. Scheetz and Ellen Camper. The Praise Team from New Morning Star Full Gospel Ministries was scheduled to perform.

The event will be recorded and aired at a later day.
