Another downtown Myrtle Beach hotel is on the market. Here’s what to know.

Another Myrtle Beach hotel with towering views of the Atlantic Ocean is for sale.

JLL, a Chicago-based global real estate company, announced Oct. 24 The Sandbar Hotel at 1804 S. Ocean Blvd. is being offered through a “fee simple” deal, giving its new owner unrestricted control of the 1.29-acre property.

The 121-room building — part of Wyndham’s Trademark Collection — saw a million-dollar renovation to its exterior and guestrooms over the past year as it moved away from its earlier Best Western flag.

“The offering represents an outstanding opportunity to acquire a recently renovated, beachfront hotel with excellent proximity to not only a plethora of leisure demand drivers but university, medical, and many other demand inducing drivers as well,” JLL officials said in a listing posted to LoopNet, an online marketplace for commercial properties.

The Sandbar’s potential sale comes at busy time on the Grand Strand’s competitive hospitality sector.

Here are other big ticket properties either under development or looking for new owners.

The famed Sea Mist remains on the market at $55 million

Climbing into the sky along 13th Avenue in downtown Myrtle Beach, the iconic Sea Mist Resort’s entire portfolio including 539 apartments, a four-level parking garage, 16 acres of ocean front and a conference center is up for sale at $55 million.

Last summer, the Sea Mist went viral after a user posted her experience with a mold-infested room to TikTok, pulling in more than seven million views. Hotel officials later said the room wasn’t meant to be in rotation for guest use, and its patrons were upgraded to a Jacuzzi suite.

Myrtle Beach to see a second sky bridge with construction of a new hotel

A 520-room hotel set to open in 2025 between 17th and 18th Avenues North in Myrtle Beach will include an elevated walkway giving guests direct ocean access.

It would be the city’s second sky bridge, joining Landmark Resort at 1501 S. Ocean Blvd.

The hotel itself will occupy 5.5 acres to include a 50-foot tall “amenity center.” City leaders and developers are so far keeping quiet on the brand, but speculation has mounted that it could be another Jimmy Buffett-styled attraction.

The late performer’s hospitality group Compass in February announced expansions to its Grand Strand presence, with plans to build a 150-room hotel along a busy stretch of North Myrtle Beach.

A controversial $100 million Atlantic Beach hotel plan is now in court

Over the summer, Atlantic Beach leaders approved cleared the way for oceanfront development — a vote tied to the potential construction of a massive “condotel” project along 30th Ave. S. Site plans for the venture couldn’t be submitted without the zoning change.

In February, Georgetown County native Charles Morant submitted to the town a conceptual plan for “The Black Pearl of the Atlantic,” a massive mixed-use structure boasting 168 hotel rooms and 24 luxury condominiums along with several short-term rentals.

Opponents responded by filing a lawsuit Sept. 28 asking a judge to block it based on ancestral land claims.

A former Myrtle Beach church is set for new life as an entertainment venue

Originally built as the city’s First Presbyterian Church, the iconic 1301 N. Kings Highway structure has been purchased by North Carolina-based Mayfair Partners, the hospitality group behind ROAR — a multi-level dining hall, nightclub and indoor gaming site that opened in 2021 in downtown Winston-Salem.

Officials have plans to expand the concept here.

Steve Burgess, Mayfair’s managing partner, said a second phase of the project could lead to a downtown Myrtle Beach hotel, though no timeline has been made available for when the venue could open.
