GAYLORD ― At the beginning of the month, one of Gaylord's 2022 state champion wrestlers made his college plans official by committing to join the Central Michigan program after high school.

Now, at the end of the month, it seems the other one will be following right behind him.

Gaylord senior Louden Stradling followed his teammate Brayden Gautreau's footsteps on Thursday, December 22, signing his letter of intent to join the Chippewas program in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Stradling competed at the MHSAA state finals at 130 pounds, rattling off wins against Ben Solis (Tecumseh), Kyron Zoet (Thornapple Kellogg), Austin Matheney (Lamphere) and Ramsy Mutchler (Lowell) en route to the individual crown.

He was also part of the 2020 Gaylord team that finished as the runner-up in the Division 2 state finals.

On top of all that, he was a part of the Team Michigan wrestling team that traveled to North Dakota State University over the summer for the 2022 16U and Junior National Championships.

"I really just want to thank my coaches throughout my years of wrestling, and my family," Stradling said.

Stradling joins his teammate and an elite program in Mount Pleasant led by National Wrestling Hall of Famer Tom Borrelli. Entering his 32nd year as the Chippewas' wrestling head coach, Borrelli has built quite the legacy for himself and the CMU wrestling program that includes 14 regular-season Mid-American Conference Championships, 14 first-place finishes at the MAC Championships (including 11 straight from 2002-2012) and 354 career victories for as a head coach, the second-most among active Division I coaches.

Last season, CMU finished 22nd in the team standings at the NCAA Championships, their best national finish since 2013.
