Another high-end financial firm chooses West Palm Beach, and Pickleball reigns in west Boynton

Welcome to The Dirt! I’m real estate reporter Kimberly Miller with the latest developments in the sizzling market.

Last week was all about development at the speed of light in downtown West Palm Beach and the continued devouring of the Agricultural Reserve. This go around, the Ag Reserve construction comes with a promise of pickleball. Seriously, pickleball. In the Ag Reserve. Oh, and a fitness center and microbrewery.

Because after 30 minutes on the treadmill a nice microbrew sounds really appealing. 🤢 It will, however, be great for happy hour if you're near BFE the western Boynton Beach Boulevard corridor.

Also, if you happened to be strolling near Times Square recently, you may have noticed massive electronic billboards touting "Wall Street South". The signs promoting Palm Beach County don't single out West Palm Beach for the moniker, but judging by the amount of new Class A office space, including some very high-profile new downtown tenants, it does seem to fit the bill.

And if the billboards, top finance firm relocations and pickleball galore don't convince you of the veracity of the nickname, maybe Tiger Woods will.

Tiger Woods-backed putt-putt course planned and this isn't your grandpa's mini-golf

Land will be leased to a company whose golf courses are designed by Tiger Woods.

The Drive Shack at Palm Beach International Airport will soon have some competition with a state-of-the-art mini-golf entertainment complex that is backed by Tiger Woods. I've never been to a PopStroke but it kind of sounds like a Chuck E. Cheese for grownups with a rooftop pool, full restaurant and a mobile drink delivery app.

For the app-challenged (toast anyone?), multiple bars will also be sprinkled throughout the venue, including one centered in the middle of the golf area.

Pity the Palm Beach homebuyer, there's just not much to choose from

Completed in 2022 as half of a duplex, a townhouse a 218 Brazilian Ave. is listed at $14.25 million in Midtown Palm Beach.

The long Labor Day weekend means beach barbecues, appliance sales, rip current rescues and a return trickle of wealthy folks looking to buy on the island.

Alas, inventory of multi million-dollar homes in Palm Beach is running low, writes luxury real estate reporter Darrell Hofheinz. Just 52 single-family properties are listed in the Palm Beach Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service. Surely there are some pocket listings. Palm Beach loves its secrecy-shrouded sales.

Class A office space in West Palm Beach still in high demand by northeast firms and locals alike

It's not just the Related Cos. of New York snagging leases with top financial firms. A new office building at 300 Banyan in downtown West Palm Beach by Wheelock Street Capital and Brand Atlantic Real Estate Partners has inked a deal with its first major tenant — Alvarez & Marsal Capital of Greenwich, Connecticut.

Stephen Ross, Related's chairman and the owner of the Miami Dolphins football team, recently likened West Palm Beach to Greenwich (only much warmer). Maybe "Greenwich South" should be added as an alternative to "Wall Street South."

16 indoor pickleball courts! Warehouses! And wine storage!

The District could be open in about two years.
The District could be open in about two years.

The District, which will be built near the intersection of Acme Dairy Road and Boynton Beach Boulevard, was lauded by nearby residents at a county commission meeting who said they deserve more than a Starbucks and a Chipotle. Don't we all? In fact, the new complex that will be built on about 47 acres sounds just like hell heaven on Earth with 16 indoor pickleball courts, a storage area for fine wines, a gym and an microbrewery.

Why would anyone ever venture east of I-95 again?

Live lightly.
