South Florida TV’s meteorologist Betty Davis is in the hospital battling coronavirus

More members of the WPLG family have come down with the coronavirus.

So far, nine Local 10 employees have tested positive in recent days, including anchors Louis Aguirre and Nicole Perez, as well as her husband, reporter Roy Ramos.

The latest is chief meteorologist Betty Davis, the station reported.

Davis is in the hospital battling the highly contagious illness, she wrote on Facebook.

In her Monday post, the weather expert wanted to let viewers know why she had been absent from their TV screens and thanked them for their concern. She also expressed concern about her health, but said her faith was helping her get through.

“I am weathering this storm with a lot of fear but also with a great deal of faith,” read the Georgia native’s post. “My family continues to remind me of the awesome healing power of our God.”

Davis also thanked the many health professionals and first responders who are fighting the pandemic battle every day.

The former Weather Channel reporter, who came to WPLG in 2011, also took the opportunity to advise people to be careful out there.

“Wear a mask. Practice social distancing. Wash your hands. It really is that simple. So let’s do this together.”

On the 5 p.m. newscast Monday, anchor Calvin Hughes said that “doctors are saying she is making good progress.”

As for his other colleagues, Hughes said that Aguirre, who was asymptomatic after his diagnosis, has since tested negative for COVID-19 and will be returning to work at the Pembroke Park newsroom soon.

Perez and Ramos also seem to be out of the woods.

In a tweet Saturday, Ramos wrote, “We are both beginning to feel a little better. I still have a cough and the shortness of breath seems to be getting better. [Perez] is still dealing with a slight headache. All your words of encouragement have helped us through this more than you know. Thank you.”

In her own post that day, Perez said that her nausea has subsided but she still had no taste nor smell.

“We are still powering through but feel like we are turning a corner,” she wrote.
