There’s another new pop-up drive-in movie theater in Miami, and it’s free for kids
There’s a new place to watch movies in your car — and this one doesn’t cost quite so much as some of the others.
As Miami area movie theaters remain closed, drive in theaters have sprung up around town. The latest, from Coral Gables-based 3FEO Entertainment, will pop up on the Miami Youth Fair grounds at Coral Way and 109th Avenue.
More than 150 vehicles can fit at the new drive-in space. Buy your tickets online, and you’ll be assigned a numbered parking space. You can also order food and drinks up to 45 minutes before showtime; they’ll be delivered to your car.
The series kicks off its opening weekend with Miami’s beloved antihero Tony Montana in “Scarface.” Sadly, those screenings are already sold out, because nothing says “Let’s relax during this stressful time” like chainsaws, automatic weapons fire and mountains of cocaine. But there are tickets remaining to a couple of family friendly movies:
2:30 p.m. Aug. 15: “Addams Family”
2:30 p.m. Aug. 16: “Secret Life of Pets 2”
Tickets start at $11 per person, with kids age 15 and under free; they’re on sale at www.3FEO.com.
The complex at the fairgrounds also includes an outdoor stage for concerts and other performances, and there are plans to add a small circular stage for standup comedy and more intimate theater performances.
The goal is twofold, said George Cabrera, President and CEO of 3FEO Entertainment.
“We want to help our community gather again safely and enjoy movies and shows together in a way we have not been able to do since the pandemic started,” he said. “And we want to give actors and musicians a chance to get back on stage and reconnect with their audiences.”
