YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The United States Postal Service is honoring one of America’s most iconic photographers with their very own series of stamps.

Ansel Adams, who was born in 1902 and lived until 1984, is best known for capturing the American West through striking images that advanced photography as a fine art.

On May 15, a first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony will be held for the “Ansel Adams Forever stamps” at the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite National Park.

USPS says the stamps will feature 16 iconic photographs taken by the esteemed artist and environmentalist.

The ceremony is free and anyone seeking to attend can RSVP here.

The official unveiling will be held on May 15 at 11 a.m. at the Ansel Adams Gallery, 9031 Village Drive, inside Yosemite National Park.
