Answer Woman: Outdoor music series returning to Biltmore?

ASHEVILLE - This installation is about a popular concert series at the property dubbed “America’s Largest Home.” Got a question for Answer Man or Answer Woman? Email Executive Editor Karen Chávez at KChavez@citizentimes.com and your question could appear in an upcoming column.

Question: Just wondering when or if at all the Biltmore outdoor concert series will return?

Answer: It’s a bittersweet symphony at Biltmore Estate as one concert series is interrupted, and another is hitting a high note.

For two decades, Biltmore Estates’ summer concert series that brought mainstream acts, like The Beach Boys and Creedence Clearwater Revisited, to perform on Biltmore House's South Terrace will not return this summer. The last production was in 2019; the series was postponed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

No plans have been announced regarding if or when the major concert series will be presented again but it won't be in 2023, according to LeeAnn Donnelly, Biltmore's senior public relations manager.

However, Biltmore’s more intimate, multidate Live Music at the Bandstand series has returned with shows scheduled through the fall season.

Biltmore Estate, One Lodge Street, is comprised of the former home of industrialist George Vanderbilt and his family, Biltmore House, constructed in Asheville between 1889-1895.

The famed landmark home is the main attraction for tourists and residents, as does the scenic views and ample events, activities and amenities offered across the 8,000-acre property.

In April, the Biltmore’s outdoor concerts kicked off at the pavilion in Antler Hill Village.

Performances are booked for Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5:30-9:15 p.m. through September and 4:30-8:15 p.m. in October. The 45-minute sets begin at the half-hour. The last set begins at 7:30 p.m. through September and 8:30 p.m. in October.
