What did you miss?

Limitless Win viewers were left scratching their heads on Saturday night after a geography question on the big-money quiz show seemingly failed to include one of the first countries everybody thought of as an answer.

Husband and wife duo Paul and Ellie returned to the Ant and Dec quiz show this week and were tasked with answering the following brainteaser: "How many countries have a name that begins with the letter S?" The couple had £75,000 in the bank and just 14 lives left.

What, how and why?

Paul immediately declared that he thought the answer was either 24 or 26 countries, stunning Ant and Dec with his lack of thinking time. Ellie explained that this had been a topic that came up while they were preparing for the show during a holiday in Spain.

The couple locked in 24 as their answer and were just two off, with 26 being revealed as the correct figure. Had they chosen correctly, they would've banked £1m.

But viewers were shocked when the completed list appeared on screen and Scotland was missing.

Of course, the reason that Scotland didn't make the list is because it's designated as part of the United Kingdom, rather than as an independent country.

As regular viewers of Pointless will have heard a million times — they'll be able to recite it in Richard Osman's voice — a country is a sovereign state that's a member of the UN in its own right. As such, Scotland was rightly excluded from the list of 26.

Paul and Ellie won't be too bothered, though. They went on to cash out with £75,000 in their bank, walking away with a life-changing sum of money. That's definitely enough for a holiday to any of the 26 countries on the list.

What else happened on Ant and Dec's Limitless Win?

Father and daughter team Denis and Becca took on the Limitless Ladder after Paul and Ellie. They managed to bank £50,000 only to lose it all when they came unstuck on a question about the minimum height above one metre a person must be to ride The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The duo thought 1.1m was the correct height — meaning their answer was 10 centimetres — but they lost all 11 of their lives when the answer was revealed to be 1.32m.

Ant and Dec's Limitless Win airs on Saturdays on ITV1.
