Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway caused havoc on daytime TV shows across ITV earlier this week.

Ant and Dec sent their pal Stephen Mulhern on the mission called On Air Dares over the last week on some of the most popular morning programmes. On tonight's (March 27) shows, he explained what happened during the challenge.

Stephen showed up unannounced at four popular ITV daytime shows and set each show's presenters the challenge to follow the words, phrases and actions that he had written on cards. Each show had to make sure that their viewers didn't know that Stephen was there and if they wanted to skip one of the cards they had to stroke their chin live on air.

Viewers of the morning TV shows seemed to have noticed that something was afoot.

"We have got a big of a mystery to clear up," said Dec towards the start of the show. "Some of you may have seen in the papers and on social media this week, there were some strange moments reported on Good Morning Britain, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.

"There are some of the headlines," he added, pointing at a collection of titles on the screen behind him. "It even made news in France."

Ant then added: "Now a lot of the people were speculating that it might have something to do with Saturday Night Takeaway. We would like to make it very clear that those people... were absolutely right!"

Upon arrival at Television Centre in London, Stephen headed to Good Morning Britain and said hello to Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard. Two of Stephen's challenges included saying the words 'rumpy pumpy' on-air and pretending that someone had farted.

Next up for Stephen was Lorraine: he said hi to host Lorraine Kelly and then gatecrashed her interview with KSI. She had to pretend that there was a fly in the studio, she also had to yawn loudly and say absolutely six times.

This Morning's Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were tasked with a number of strange things during a cooking segment on their show. Some of the highlights included Holly saying that she was bursting for a wee. Holly also said the words 'flaps' and 'moist' on-air and started beatboxing as well.

Last up was Loose Women, where panellists Charlene White, Judi Love and Jane Moore took part in the challenge. Judi had to pretend that there was a spider in the studio while Jane was tasked with declaring her love for fish fingers. Judi also said that she was adjusting a wedgie while Jane sniffed her armpit on live TV.

After all the shows faced their worst on-air nightmares, This Morning came out on top and won the challenge.

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues on Saturday on ITV.
