The New Orleans Pelicans are expecting to be without big man Anthony Davis for the next 1-2 weeks, the team announced.

Davis suffered a sprained left index finger during the Pelican’s 128-112 loss to Portland on Friday night. The injury news comes as New Orleans gets ready to take on two of the league’s top teams in the coming days with a back-to-back against the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets at the end of January.

Aside from being the subject of rampant trade — and tampering — rumors, Davis has been one of the NBA’s most dominant players this season. He’s recorded at least 30 points and 13 rebounds in five of his last six games.

Despite that, the Pelicans have been underwhelming, to say the least. They’re three games under .500 and four games back of the Los Angeles Lakers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
