Anthony Scaramucci: 'One of the best things that Donald Trump has going for him is the Democrats'

Democrats are their own worst enemy when it comes to the presidential election in 2020, according to former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.

“One of the best things that Donald Trump has going for him is the Democrats,” said Scaramucci in an interview with Yahoo Finance’s On The Move. Scaramucci excoriated the current roster of Democratic candidates saying they’ve veered too far from moderate positions leaving themselves vulnerable to President Trump or any other Republican challengers.

“They're so far left on the socialist stuff,” he said. “The country really doesn't want that.”

The latest Fox News poll shows 49% of voters want Trump impeached and removed from office, while 4% say he should be impeached but not removed. And while questions about impropriety and impeachment should give Democratic candidates a boost in favorability polls, the only person stacking up against the President is former Vice President Joe Biden….and that’s barely.

“Look at the polling numbers. The only one that seems to be beating him in the important swing states is Joe Biden. And he's eeking out 1% to 3% margins,” said Scaramucci.

Young talent is what draws Democratic voters, according to Scaramucci, who points to Pete Buttigieg as a possible dark horse, describing the South Bend Indiana Mayor as “wicked smart.”

“Remember, the Democrats do better below the age of 50 — John Kennedy, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton,” Scaramucci said. “Republicans do better above the age of 60 — Ronald Reagan, Dwight Eisenhower, Donald Trump. And so picking a 70-year-old to be the nominee is not the best strategy for Democrats because their voting block is a lot younger.”

Which Democrat is the least likely to succeed, by Scaramucci’s measure?

“I could not support Elizabeth Warren. I would have to not vote in the election, frankly, because I'm ‘ABT’ right now — anybody but Trump except for Elizabeth Warren,” he said.
