Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene appears to be mentally “unwell” and should consider psychological help, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said Friday amid revelations that the far-right Georgia Republican stalked her in 2019 with a man who later participated in the pro-Trump attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Ocasio-Cortez, an outspoken progressive Democrat known to frequently field death threats from Trump supporters, told reporters that the stalking revelation is just the tip of the iceberg for Greene.

“I mean, this is a woman that’s deeply unwell, and clearly needs some help,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Her kind of fixation has lasted for several years now. You know, it’s at this point I think the depth of that unwellness has raised concerns for other members, as well. And so, you know, I think that this is an assessment that needs to be made by a proper professional.”

In a since-deleted Facebook video from February 2019 unearthed by CNN, Greene and a cohort of companions dressed in pro-Trump gear showed up at Ocasio-Cortez’s Capitol office to taunt her.

“You need to stop being a baby and stop locking your door and come out and face the American citizens that you serve,” Greene, who was at the time just months away from announcing a campaign for Congress, says in the video, speaking through the mail slot in Ocasio-Cortez’s office door. “If you want to be a big girl, you need to get rid of your diaper and come out and be able to talk to the American citizens. Instead of having to use a flap, a little flap. Sad.”

Among the men accompanying Greene for the stunt was Anthony Aguero, a conservative commentator who was captured on cameras inside the Capitol on Jan. 6 as hundreds of Trump supporters rampaged through the halls of Congress in a failed attempt to block certification of President Biden’s election.

After taking turns talking through the mail slot, Greene and her associates are seen in the video vandalizing Ocasio-Cortez’s guest book, drawing a border wall on one page and writing on another that the Queens-Bronx congresswoman is “crazy.”

“Bye. Bye. Bye, AOC. Ocasio-Cortez. Bye, bye, baby. Bye-bye, baby. Bye-bye, little baby girl. Ocasio-Cortez, she went and hid. She couldn’t take it,” Greene said at another point in the video, mispronouncing “Ocasio.”

Greene, who got stripped of all her committee assignments earlier this year over social media posts promoting political violence and the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory, claimed Friday that her 2019 visit to the Capitol was innocuous.

“Walking around and talking to members of Congress who serve the taxpayers that, now we’ve got taxpayers aren’t even allowed to come talk to us, that’s the context,” she told reporters.

Greene, an ardent ally of former President Donald Trump, has sought out Ocasio-Cortez in person on Capitol Hill several times in recent months.

Earlier this week, Greene accosted the New York lawmaker on the House floor and claimed she supports “terrorists” in the Black Lives Matter movement. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has suggested Greene should be referred for disciplinary proceedings before the ethics committee over that incident.

The Georgia Republican has also made a big fuss about her hope to debate Ocasio-Cortez in a floor showdown on “socialism.”

Ocasio-Cortez told reporters she has no interest in debating a person she considers mentally unfit.

“She does keep discussing this, but it’s not a thing,” she told reporters. “I’m concerned about her perceptions of reality.”
