With the 2022 midterm elections looming, Democrats are beginning to voice their concerns about losing their majority. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) recently addressed her constituents at a monthly town hall where she sounded the alarm about the possibility of Democrats losing the House, emphatically stating that “this is no joke.”

She warned those in attendance that the attempt to overthrow the election on January 6th last year was only a “trial run.”

Ocasio-Cortez went on to explain that the only reason January 6th was not ultimately worse was that Democrats had the majority in the House, and so the Republicans did not have the votes to change the election results, which she described as a “technicality.” She warned that if the Republicans take the House in November, then they will become the majority and therefore have the votes to delegitimize the presidential election, whatever the results. Ocasio-Cortez re-emphasized that the situation was “very serious.”
