AP releases first girls basketball state rankings

HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI. — The Associated Press prep sports writers of Michigan have released their first batch of state rankings for varsity girls basketball this season. The rankings were released on Jan. 9 and cover contests up to Jan. 8 The polls will be released on a weekly basis.

There weren't any Hillsdale County teams that showed up in the first batch of rankings, but some of the local conference neighbors made an appearance. LCAA contender Blissfield is ranked number three overall in the Division 3 rankings. Hudson also made an appearance in the Division 3 honorable mentions lists.

Mendon and Colon girls basketball earned honorable mentions in Division 4 rankings. Petersburg Summerfield also received a spot tied for ninth overall in the Division 4 rankings. Below is the full list of rankings updated as of Jan. 10.
