With Texas paralyzed by a winter storm, Sen. Ted Cruz took his family on vacation to Cancun, Mexico, drawing criticism from some Texans and leaders in both parties. The Associated Press' Jake Bleiberg discusses the fallout of Sen. Cruz's trip. (Feb 18)

JAKE BLEIBERG: People are just, you know, absolutely outraged that they've been without power and heat when they need it most. I think there's going to be ongoing anger among Texans with what Senator Cruz over this.

But I have to just emphasize that, even though it is something people are angry about, the focus for people is just staying safe. And that remains a huge challenge for I think still millions of Texans who lack either power or water. Texas is a solidly red state. Cruz won reelection in a close race a couple of years ago, but Texas voted for Trump by a wide margin, it voted for its other senator, Cornyn, by a wide margin. I don't know that the base of Cruz's supporters are going to be turned off by this.
