- This is AP Newsminute. President Joe Biden says he will withdraw the remaining 2,500 US troops from Afghanistan and end America's longest war by this September 11. After making the announcement, Biden traveled to Arlington National Cemetery, where he paid his respects to the US war dead.

A Minnesota prosecutor is charging the white former suburban Minneapolis police officer who fatally shot 20-year-old Black motorist Daunte Wright. Kim Potter is charged with second-degree manslaughter. The shootings sparked more protests overnight.

California officials say a college student missing since 1996 was killed during an attempted rape, and the suspect's father helped hide her body. Paul Flores was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Kristin Smart, and his father Robert Flores is charged as an accessory.
