The Democrats are gearing up for a third night of the Democratic National Convention. Kamala Harris is poised to make history on Wednesday as the first Black woman to accept a spot on the major party's presidential ticket. Hillary Clinton will also appear and is expected to cement her legacy as a champion of women in politics.
Thousands of people were ordered to evacuate areas surrounding the San Francisco Bay. The orders come as nearly 40 wildfires blaze across the state amid a blistering heat wave now in its second week. Officials say at least 50 structures have been destroyed and four people injured.
The Israeli military says it launched an airstrike attack on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The military says it was in retaliation of a rocket targeted at the Israeli territory by Palestinian militants.
Apple became the first US company to be valued at $2 trillion, just two years after it became the first to reach $1 trillion. Apple shares have gained nearly 60% this year as the company overcame the shutdown of factories in China and the closure of its retail sales amid the coronavirus pandemic.
