DEREK KARIKARI: This is AP Newsminute. Two US Air Force pilots were killed when a trainer jet crashed near an Alabama airport. The crash involved a T-38 aircraft operating from the Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.

A Moscow court on Saturday ordered Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny to pay a fine in a defamation case. The ruling came hours after another judge rejected the top Kremlin critic's appeal against his prison sentence.

Protests over the imprisonment of Spanish rapper Pablo Hasel turned violent for a fifth straight night in Barcelona on Saturday. Protesters looted shops and started fires as Hasel serves a nine-month prison sentence for insulting the Spanish monarchy and praising terrorist violence.

In Thailand, around 1,000 protesters staged a rally outside the gates of the country's parliament, after the prime minister won a no-confidence vote. Speakers took turns denouncing the vote results on Saturday, saying they were hosting their own version of the censure debate. Derek Karikari, Associated Press, with AP Newsminute.
