- This is AP News Minute. The defense gets its turn in former President Trump's impeachment trial on Friday. The attorneys agree with Democrats that the January 6 violence was dramatic and unacceptable, but they say Trump had nothing to do with it.

On Thursday, the Democrats used videos from the rioters to tie the insurrection to Trump. The images show rioters saying Trump invited them, and they were fighting for him.

A House committee on Thursday finalized about half of President Biden's $1.9 trillion COVID relief plan. It aims to raise hundreds of billions of dollars for state and local governments, and boost vaccination rates. Republicans say it costs too much.

Charges were dropped against two Buffalo, New York, police officers recorded last spring shoving a 75-year-old protester to the ground. A grand jury decided not to charge them with felony assault.
