Apartment fire in Norfolk displaces 10 residents, injures firefighter

A firefighter was injured and at least 10 people displaced after a fire broke out Sunday morning in Norfolk.

According to Battalion Chief Glen Williams, crews with Norfolk Fire-Rescue were dispatched at 4 a.m. to the 900 block of Scott Street for reports of an apartment fire. At the scene, crews found “heavy fire coming from multiple units,” Williams said. Firefighters began tackling the blaze from the inside and outside.

No civilians were injured, but one firefighter was transported to a hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening. The fire was considered under control at 5:13 a.m.

At least a dozen apartment units were affected by the fire.
