APD Narcotics, DEA confiscate large amount of fentanyl pills in ongoing investigation

The Amarillo Police Department seized nearly 100,000 fentanyl pills disguised as prescription pills Monday as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to a news release, on Monday, the Amarillo Police Department Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the DEA Amarillo office, conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of approximately 100,000 fentanyl pills. These pills were disguised as M30 prescription pills, or oxycodone hydrochloride, and weighed 24.4 pounds altogether.

The pills have a street value of $1.5 million, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
