Reality TV star Melissa Rycroft is the latest person to come forward with a story about falling ill after a trip to the Dominican Republic.
Rycroft, who is known for starring on "The Bachelor" and "Dancing with the Stars," noted in a social media post that she felt sick after a family trip at the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts in Punta Cana earlier this month.
In one photo shared to her Instagram post-vacation, she wrote, "Not feeling well today, so puppy cuddles help since my kiddos don’t seem to care...."
A June 14 follow-up post found Rycroft on an examination table, feeling no better.
"After a really rough week, I have been put on a liquid diet, and given meds for my severe cramping," she captioned the image. "Fingers crossed this goes away in 3 days - doc says next step is a Parasite test if it doesn’t...."
Rycroft's rep didn't immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment but told Page Six that she had had an upset stomach on the second day in the Dominican Republic that went away but returned and became more serious after she got home.
The rep added that Rycroft had been sick for a week and was being tested for parasites and other infections but assumed it was foodborne since she was the only member of her family that got sick.
On Tuesday, she shared an update with her 250,000-plus followers.
"More bloodwork done today. Blood pressure was 90/60 so they're monitoring it," she wrote in an Insta Story. "But!!! New meds are making me feel so much better!!! Test results by Thursday at the latest!! But this is good progress!!"
The Dominican Republic has made headlines recently for several tourist deaths and other concerning incidents, including reported illnesses.
