'You are a child in the most important role': Bridget McCain blasts Trump on Twitter

The late Sen. John McCain's daughter is defending his honor on Twitter again – but this time, it's not Meghan.

Bridget McCain has never spoken publicly about President Donald Trump's attacks on her father. But she tweeted at the president Wednesday night after he said he never liked McCain.

She said that, whether people agreed with her father or not, they should at the very least respect him and his family, reminding the president that it has only been seven months since they buried McCain.

"Even if you were invited to my dad’s funeral, you would have only wanted to be there for the credit and not for any condolences," she tweeted. "Unfortunately, you could not be counted on to be courteous, as you are a child in the most important role the world knows."

Meghan McCain, who often defends her father after the president speaks about him, retweeted her sister's posts and took a moment to address the issue on "The View," the talk show she co-hosts.

She said that she doesn't expect respect or condolences from the Trump family, but thanked the American public for the way they've treated the McCain family over the past year. She also used the time as a call to action.

"Can we take this awful moment and turn it into something positive?" she said, encouraging people to get involved with charities for wounded veterans in her father's honor.
