'His dream was to become a park ranger': Iowa student found dead at national park in Utah
DES MOINES, Iowa – A University of Iowa student was found dead after a days-long search of a national park in Utah.
Jonathan Hogue's body was found at Canyonlands National Park on Friday after the 33-year-old took what officials believe was a 500-foot fall, the San Juan County, Utah, Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Hogue was a graduate teaching assistant in Iowa City, the University of Iowa tweeted after the man was reported missing Tuesday. He had been studying geography, the university's graduate and professional student government posted on Facebook.

A missing persons update posted on the national park's Facebook described Hogue as a backpacker who enjoyed long distance and off-trail hikes.
"His dream was to be a park ranger," the park wrote, also describing Hogue as enjoying drawing and painting.
The physical description the park provided also mentioned that Hogue had a tattoo on his bicep with the words "Ninja Penguin."
Hogue's body was found at the base of the Green River Outlook in the Island of the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park.
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate Hogue's death.
