'First Man' exclusive deleted scene: Ryan Gosling has never been hotter battling house fire

Ryan Gosling showed that astronaut Neil Armstrong overcame some hair-raising mishaps before he became the first human to step on the moon, as depicted in director Damien Chazelle's "First Man."

One significant personal setback that didn't even make the final cut of the critically praised drama — a deadly fire which destroyed the Armstrong family home in 1964.

Chazelle, who won an Oscar for directing 2016's "La La Land," shot an elaborate scene, exclusively revealed here, showing Gosling's Armstrong alerting the family to the fire in the dead of night, battling smoke to go back into the home to save his son and then attempting to douse the fire, in vain, with a garden hose.

With the best-picture contender clocking in at more than two hours even before Gosling's Armstrong set down triumphantly on the moon's surface, the fire scene was left on the proverbial cutting room floor.

The look of pain on Gosling's face as his house burns down says it all. The full scene is available on the "First Man" Blu-Ray available on Tuesday along with other extras, including a trippy view of how Chazelle shot the moon's surface. (Extras spoiler! It was the freakiest rock quarry ever.)
