This 'Game Of Thrones' Fan Theory Says Sansa Is Behind Daenerys' Downfall In Episode Four

The fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season Eight didn't go particularly well for anyone: Daenerys, Rhaegal, definitely Missendei, the prop department, even the fans. And going into Episode Five, Daenerys is in a pretty bad spot. One of her dragons is dead. Her closest friend and advisor Missendei has been beheaded. Her army is in bad shape. And she's about to make a pretty horrible decision, destroying King's Landing to get revenge on Cersei.

But, how did this all play out so perfectly awful for Daenerys? It all seems a little convenient that Euron was so easily able to get the drop on her entire army (especially when Daenerys had a pretty good vantage point to see them ... from the sky)?

One new theory from Reddit says that Sansa instigated all of this. Let's go back to the big awkward Real World: Winterfell dinner. Sansa sees Daenerys playing the game, giving Gendry a title to get him on her side-effectively taking a man loyal to House Stark and turning him to team Targaryen. Then, she finds out that Jon actually has a better claim to the Iron Throne. What does she do next?

First turn Dany’s people against her. By planting a seed of doubt in Tyrion’s head , it will either make him question her legitimacy or at least talk about it to Varys. This could start a domino effect that will turn Dany into a full tyrant further illegitimatizing her claim to the iron throne.

Second send a raven to Cersei that Dany is on her way to Dragonstone. Dany’s fleet has no northerns on it. Neither of them will grant the North its independence if they win, so to Sansa they’re both the same except one of them has two dragons. If Cersei defeats Dany in the black water bay then the Northern army are all intact , Sansa can’t afford anymore losses in her armies.

Third thing she does is to send her Assassin sister down to kings landing to kill Cersei. I don’t think Arya would wait for Sansa to tell her to go kill Cersei but i also don’t think she would leave without saying goodbye and i bet Sansa gave Arya a lot of ideas as to how to kill Cersei because she knows Cersei better than her.

As we've seen in these later seasons, Sansa has learned quite a bit from some of Westeros' most notorious politicians and tacticians. Littlefinger and Cersei herself have taught Sansa well. And no one knows better than Sansa to trust no one but yourself.

If this theory is true, that means Sansa is hatching a similar strategy to Cersei's. She's sent Dany's army down south into a trap that will eventually destroy both the Targaryen army and the Lannister army at King's Landing. That gives her own army time to recuperate to pick up the pieces after the ash has settled on King's landing. Meanwhile, Arya is heading South, where she can assassinate Cersei and Jon can take the Iron Throne when all is said and done.

It's a genius plan. And, after all, Sansa learned from the best.
