'I hope we have enough butter': Costco selling gigantic lobster claws at some stores, shoppers say

Giant tubs of macaroni and cheese may have met their match.

There's a new super-size product at Costco – giant lobster claws.

Shoppers have been sharing photos of the massive crustaceans on Instagram, some shown with Costco's Kirkland brand on the label.

According to FoodBeast, the claws reportedly vary in size and weigh around 2 to 7 pounds. The shoppers sharing photos have been mainly from California, FoodBeast reported.

On Monday, Instagram user @julesfood shared a photo of a 3-pound claw, which tagged Newport Beach, California.

"I’ve seen a few big claws at Costco before, but this one’s crazy!" the post said. "We just had to get it. It might be 1/2 it’s weight in shell, but worth it already. The family’s had their fun photo ops, now it’s going on the grill ... I hope we have enough butter."

Costco did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Instagram user @wine_country_foodies shared a photo Feb. 7 with a 4.7-pound package for $46.95 or $9.99 a pound.

On its website, Costco sells a six-count of live Maine lobsters weighing 1.25 pounds each for $129.99.

Costco is known for selling super-sized products.

In January, the wholesaler sold out of Chef’s Banquet Macaroni and Cheese Storage Bucket, a 27-pound bucket with 180 servings of the comfort food.

On Wednesday, the product was available and selling for $89.99.

It also has a 20-year shelf life and comes with six 30 serving zip-sealed pouches of Cheddar Sauce Mix and six 30 serving zip-sealed pouches of Elbow Macaroni Pasta.
