'SNL': Robert De Niro is hiding in Eric Trump's closet as boogeyman Robert Mueller

Eric Trump received a special visit from the "boogeyman" when Robert De Niro made a surprise appearance as special counsel Robert Mueller in the cold open on "Saturday Night Live."

Donald Trump Jr. (Mikey Day) and Eric Trump (Alex Moffat) got the "SNL" treatment again on Saturday's episode, this time with De Niro as Mueller popping out of Eric's closet to comment on the increasing pressure President Donald Trump faces in the Russia probe.

When Donald Jr. swings by at bedtime to read Eric a story, the younger Trump sibling comments, "I think there's a boogeyman in my closet." Donald Jr. replies: "There's no boogeyman in your closet. Have you been watching the news again?"

Donald Jr. opens the closet door to reveal Mueller hiding behind the door, causing Eric to exclaim: "Robert Mueller is in there!"

The elder Trump leaves to talk a phone call from his lawyer: "Hey, how bad is it? Uh huh, oh God. Uh huh, well can I flip on him?"

That's when De Niro's Mueller shows up next to Eric's bed to talk to him about the Russia investigation.

"Hi Eric, don't be scared. It's just me, Robert Mueller, your dad's friend from work," De Niro says.

When Moffat's Eric says he's not allowed to talk to the special counsel, Mueller responds: "That's fine Eric. It was pretty clear early on that you didn't know anything. I wish I could say the say for some of your dad's friends."

And according to Eric, those friends' names are "Mr. Pillowfort" and "Mr. Papa John's Pizza," references to Paul Manafort and George Papadopoulos, members of the Trump 2016 presidential campaign team.

"No matter what happens, America is going to be just fine" because of its good people, Mueller says.

"Good people like my dad?" Eric asks.

"Let's put a pin in that," Mueller responds.

Eric says: "People say you're the worst thing to happen to my dad."

"No, Eric, getting elected president was the worst thing that ever happened to your dad," De Niro's Mueller responds.
