'The Voice' recap: A surprise proposal and bromance between John Legend, Blake Shelton

Wedding bells are ringing on "The Voice."

Blind auditions resumed Monday on the singing competition, but as the teams are filling up, it is becoming more difficult for contestants to get a coveted chair-turn from Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend or Adam Levine.

For Denton Arnell, the stakes were even higher because he had to not only get a "Yes" from one of the coaches, but also from his girlfriend, Tiffany.

"My nerves are up because a lot is riding on me getting a chair-turn today," the 31-year-old Chicago native said before hitting the stage. "I do have a ring. (Tiffany) has completely no idea."

Arnell, a church youth director, put his own twist on Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home." Legend took notice, commending Arnell for getting "creative with the melody and making it your own." The singer joined Team Legend.

"Is it OK if I share this moment with my girlfriend?" Arnell asked, enacting Phase 2 of his surprise proposal. "Can she come up?"

An unsuspecting Tiffany joined her boyfriend of three years onstage and introduced herself to the judges. Arnell then asked for her hand in marriage in front of the entire world.

"Being that (Legend) gave me a 'Yes,' I wanted to see if Tiffany would give me a 'Yes,'" he said.

Romance was temporarily lost after the two bumped heads really hard, but after some laughter (mainly from Clarkson), Arnell regained his composure and got down on one knee.

"Yes," an emotional Tiffany replied as he slipped an engagement ring on her finger. Legend replied, "Congratulations! It is a good thing I said 'Yes.'"

That was not the only romance brewing on "The Voice." Or should we say bromance?

Shelton started a one-sided alliance with Legend, campaigning heavily for the "All of Me" crooner: "I’m not afraid to say I’ve been siding with John. It’s his first season, he’s having a tough time."

However, there was no happy ending for Shelton and Legend.

Mari, 20, stunned the judges with her vocals on Ella Mai's "Boo'd Up," prompting chair-turns from Levine, Legend and Clarkson. "There could be a connection with us musically. It could work really well," Legend pitched, while Levine praised: "I turned around because you don’t do things the way others do."

Shelton (who did not turn his chair around) asked Mari who she wants as her coach, as the country singer got out of his chair to point to Legend. But, Shelton had no luck in helping the newcomer. "Sorry Blake, I pick Adam," the mononymous Mari declared.

"I think you sabotaged me," Legend exclaimed, putting an end to their budding bromance. "I don’t need your help anymore, Blake. You're like the kiss of death."

Ouch. At least Shelton still has Gwen Stefani.
