JARED: Welcome back, Apple aficionados. I'm in Cupertino, California, where Tim Cook will be taking the stage at 1:00 PM Eastern for the big reveal, a new 5G entry level iPhone upgrades for the Macs, and iPads, and a few new bells and whistles for the Apple Watch. Here to talk about it is Yahoo Finance's Dan Howley, and Dan, I know you're ready for the big day. I think a lot of focus for people, including me, even going to be on the price point for that new entry level iPhone with 5G.

DAN HOWLEY: That's right, Jared. This is going to be a new version of the iPhone SE. It would be the 3rd Gen iPhone SE. We last saw the iPhone SE revealed in 2020. Part of that had been some years before we had seen it, and really, as you said, this is an entry level device.

The SE that we had seen come out in 2020 started, believe it or not, at $3.99, which is incredibly inexpensive for an Apple device, though, obviously, not the least expensive smartphone out there. And what we're expecting this time around is, like you mentioned, 5G connectivity. That would mean that all of Apple's new iPhones have 5G, or at least, their latest versions of the iPhones would have 5G.

We're also expecting a better processor and better camera out of this. Now, the design is probably going to remain the same as that 2020 model, so you don't expect that edge to edge screen look. It's going to have, likely, a touch ID fingerprint sensor, those large bezels on the top and bottom, so it's not going to have that sleek look of the newer phones. Maybe a 4.7 inch screen, so it's not going to be exactly massive.

But look, if you're looking for an inexpensive iPhone with 5G and with that old school look, you're going to get that exactly out of this SE, and then we're also expected to see some other products, including a new iPad, as well as the Mac, a Mac, rather, that's getting Apple's M1 chip. But we don't know exactly what model that will be, and the iPad will be the iPad Air, also, getting a processor upgrade. I think really for everybody who's going to be watching this, it's going to be about what the 5G capabilities do for this iPhone SE, and really, whether or not it's worth it. 5G has kind of not been exactly a must have quite yet. So in my opinion, if you are still rocking an SE from 2020 and it's still doing well for you, you may not have to upgrade right away.

- Dan, I'm looking at my own iPad Air here. As you mentioned, a new one could be revealed today. Mine's just two years old, but how big of an upgrade are we expecting on that front?

DAN HOWLEY: Yeah, it'll include 5G connectivity as well. That would mean that most of Apple's iPad lineup will have 5G connectivity, and it's also going to get that processor upgrade. So it will be faster. Don't discount that. I'm not sure, if it'll get a new design, or if it'll keep the same design as the current iPad Air.

The iPad Air is, basically, the top level that you can get for consumer iPads. There's the iPad Air, the standard iPad, and the iPad Mini. The Air is really the go to for consumers. If you're a prosumer or just a professional, in general, you would go at the iPad Pro. But those start to get pretty pricey with those M1 chips that Apple has, so I think the iPad Air, for most people, is going to be the go to. Again, it's got that 5G connectivity. But if you're not somebody who goes out often with your iPad or doesn't use cellular, you might as well just stick with Wi-Fi, and again, 5G, in my opinion, just hasn't really knocked my socks off yet.

- We'll see if anything changes. Of course, that event set to start in just under two hours, 10:00 AM local time out in Cupertino. Thanks so much for that, Dan.
