'Apple is a rock of Gibraltar in the storm,' says analyst

STORY: Mac Studio and iPad Air got Apple's own chips, M1 Max and M1 Ultra, as did iPhone SE with A15 Bionic.

Apple analyst, Wedbush's Dan Ives, said Apple is beating chip companies at their own game.

"These are major products for Apple," Ives said. "This is a company that's delivering and bringing out new products in the midst of a supply chain crisis where every other tech and auto company is actually stopping and slowing down product releases."

The announcement of updates came on Tuesday (March 8), when Apple said it added 5G connectivity to its low-cost iPhone SE and iPad Air and introduced a faster chip for a new desktop, a high point in Apple's move to power its devices with microprocessors designed in house.
