Apple Valley man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, holding woman against her will

An Apple Valley man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, holding a woman against her will and possessing illegal drugs, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials reported.

Ronald Lamas, 39, of Apple Valley remained at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, with bail set at $5 million.He is scheduled to appear Thursday in Victorville Superior Court.

Apple Valley Sheriff’s officials reported that at approximately 5:34 p.m. on June 15, deputies were dispatched to an assault in the 22000 block of Highway 18.

The location is a business near Quinnault Road and across the highway from the U.S. Post Office.

The victim reported that she was being held against her will, and was assaulted and threatened by the suspect, who was later identified as Lamas, a convicted felon, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies responded to the incident location but could not locate Lamas. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

On June 16, deputies and detectives served search warrants at Lamas' residence and businesses in the 22000 block of Hwy. 18 and arrested Lamas without incident.

During the execution of the search warrants, deputies located a loaded handgun, ammunition of different calibers, a large amount of marijuana and suspected methamphetamine.

Lamas was transported and booked at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto for attempted murder, false imprisonment, terrorist threats and possession of marijuana for sale.
