Applications available for Christmas in Ida Parade of Lights

Applications can now be submitted for Christmas in Ida’s Parade of Lights.

The 40th-anniversary Christmas in Ida Parade of Lights will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. It is presented by DTE Energy. Parade entry forms are due by Nov. 22.

“The 40th-anniversary parade will honor and recognize the heritage of the agriculture community. The parade was founded to feature the agriculture community with decorated tractors, combines and equipment,” the festival committee said. “The Parade of Lights will showcase the popular ‘parade within a parade’ highlighted with agriculture equipment.”

The Christmas in Ida parade is nationally recognized, the festival committee said. More than 120 illuminated and animated floats, fire trucks, large parade balloons, bands, cartoon characters and marching units will join farm implements in lighted displays. Thousands of spectators attend each year.

This year’s parade will feature a special presentation by the Michigan Falun Dafa Association, which will feature performers and a colorful float.

The parade follows the Family Christmas Fireworks Show presented by Consumers Energy and is the finale of the weekend festival.

The parade of lights will be live streamed on YouTube and on cable television throughout the holiday season, beginning at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 on public access channels MPACT Charter Communications, D & P Communications, Buckeye and Comcast.
