Applications available for Franklin County nursing scholarship

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – Applications are now available for the 2024 Franklin County Nursing Scholarship.

The program provides financial assistance to Franklin County high school seniors accepted into an accredited four-year nursing program. Up to six one-time scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded.

This Week in Pennsylvania

Students must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA, participate in both extracurricular and community service activities, and show a financial need.

Applicants must submit an application, an official high school transcript, three letters of reference (including one from a guidance counselor), and an essay indicating short and long-term goals regarding nursing school.

Pennsylvania county’s technology infrastructure suffers “critical incident”

Applications are available on the Franklin County website and must be received by 4:30 p.m. on March 22.

“Nurses are unsung heroes of the medical field and deserve our respect and admiration,” said Franklin County Commissioner Chairman Dean Horst. “We know there is a need for skilled nurses in our area, so we are hopeful that this scholarship program will encourage local students entering the nursing profession to return to Franklin County to serve their communities once they have completed their education.”

Recipients will be announced during school scholarship ceremonies.
