Mahtomedi residents interested in serving on the Mahtomedi City Council are asked to submit a letter of interest by the end of the week.
The deadline for submitting letters of interest is 4:30 p.m. Friday. The Mahtomedi City Council will interview potential candidates the week of Feb. 27.
Whoever is selected to serve on the council will fill the remainder of City Council member Richard Brainerd’s term, which expires at the end of the year.
Brainerd was tapped to be mayor of the city following the resignation of longtime mayor Warren “Jud” Marshall in January; that term also expires at the end of the year. Marshall, believed to be the oldest mayor in Minnesota, resigned from his post, citing health concerns.
The council meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 p.m. and occasionally for work sessions or special meetings.
