LCRA opens grant applications

Community groups wanting to apply for grants of up to $50,000 from the Lower Colorado River Authority must submit completed applications by midnight Jan. 31.

Applications for Community Development Partnership Program grants are available online at www.lcra.org/cdpp. Most grants are for $25,000 or less, but each cycle includes several grants of up to $50,000.

Eligible organizations include volunteer fire departments, emergency responders, local governments, schools, libraries, civic groups, museums and other tax-exempt nonprofit organizations. The grants are not available to individuals, for-profit entities, professional associations, social service projects or limited-use facilities.

Applicants requesting more than $5,000 in grant funding must supply matching funds of at least 20% of the total project cost. The projects must benefit or be available to an entire community and also improve the value of a capital asset through building, renovating or purchasing equipment.

Eligible organizations include those in Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Hays, Travis and Williamson counties.

More ways to buy Girl Scouts cookies

The Girl Scouts of Central Texas has kicked off the 2022 Girl Scout cookie season.

Girl Scouts are selling the new Adventurefuls, a brownie-inspired cookie with caramel-flavored crème and a hint of sea salt. This season, Girl Scouts are again selling cookies in creative, socially distant and contact-free ways to keep themselves and customers safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Girl Scouts of Central Texas is participating in an exclusive local collaboration with Favor, the Texas-based on-demand delivery company, and P. Terry’s Burger Stand, the popular Austin-born burger chain, so girls have more ways to facilitate drive-through and contact-free cookie orders.

Local Girl Scouts will track and fulfill orders using Favor’s technology at select P. Terry’s dine-in locations. In Austin, consumers can order Girl Scout Cookies for delivery on the Favor delivery app or on favordelivery.com. This method will be available in most of the Austin area on weekends through Feb. 27. Cookie booth and delivery hours are available from 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
