$2.6B available to Californians for rent, utility bill relief

Renters in Los Angeles can now apply for up to $10,000 in rent relief through the city's $259 million COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance program.

- Now, starting at 8 o'clock this morning, you can start applying for rent relief in the city of LA. In order to qualify though, your household income does need to be at or below 50% of the area median income. People are eligible regardless of their immigration status.

The 259 million program is being funded by the federal and state government for this. And eligible applicants will be chosen through a random selection process. You have until April 30 to apply on the city's website.
