Applications taken through Tuesday for Salvation Army's Christmas program

COSHOCTON − The Coshocton County Salvation Army is taking applications for its annual Christmas programs through Tuesday. Residents can apply by going to saangeltree.org or by calling the office at 740-622-0971, ext. 104.

The local Salvation Army runs a Christmas Castle, Angel Tree and food distribution programs for the holiday season.

Following Thanksgiving, a pledge drive is held on WTNS Radio with funding going toward the purchase of new clothes for youth in need. Families will be able to shop on five designated nights in December at Coshocton Walmart.

The Christmas Castle and food distribution programs reached 1,329 individuals last year, that included 669 children aided through the Christmas Castle.

Donations were more than $50,000. Last year, students in kindergarten to those having just graduated were allotted $75 each through the Christmas Castle and those from birth to age 5 in received $50 each through the Angel Tree program.

Last year, those with children received a voucher for Buehler's Fresh Foods to buy food for a Christmas meal. Those without children were able to pickup a food box from the Salvation Army and a gift certificate for meat.
