How to apply for Shelby County's 2022 youth summer camp scholarship program

Shelby County is partnering with 25 organizations to offer free summer camps to more than 700 families in its first year offering a scholarship program.

The grant money, from the Shelby County Mayor's Office of Education, will cover all camp-related expenses.

"The goal is to partner with these summer camps so families can go without costs but also to raise awareness around the breadth of summer camp offerings we’ve got offered in Shelby County,” said Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris. “It’s really critical that we give our kids and our families something productive to do over the summer, because we know that summer camps can change lives. We also know that the absence of something to do over the summer can really hurt and send kids off on the wrong path.”

Camps range from a one-day experience to all summer long. Students will have opportunities to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), acting, agriculture, music, dance and sports.

To apply, families should email the camp scholarship partner they are interested in.
