Make appointment for Community Healthcheck at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital

DOVER – The low-cost comprehensive blood screening event open to the public and hosted by two area civic clubs returns in March at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital.

The New Philadelphia Rotary Club and Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club will combine efforts again to present the Spring Community Healthcheck 2023 on March 4, with appointment times available from 6 to 11 a.m.

Appointments are required for this event; walk-ins are not available. Appointments are accepted online and by telephone until they are completely filled.

Online appointments are available anytime by visiting the Rotary Club’s website at www.newphiladelphiarotary.com and completing the available registration form. To make telephone appointments, call the hospital’s Community Relations Department weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 330-308-3599.

The blood screening event covers a wide range of health indicators at a discounted price and is offered as part of a fundraising project to support the many community programs of the two clubs.

The blood profile testing includes:

  • diabetes (blood sugar)

  • cholesterol (HDL, LDL, triglycerides and total cholesterol)

  • anemia

  • thyroid function

  • liver disease

  • kidney disease

The cost is $45 for the complete testing package, and for an additional $15 men ages 50 and older can receive a PSA prostate screen. Payment is made to the clubs and is by cash or check only on March 4 (checks made payable to New Philadelphia Rotary Club).

Union Hospital’s phlebotomy staff will draw the blood samples, and testing will be done in the hospital’s laboratory. A printed report will be sent to the address provided by each participant, and this will include all test results and noting any result reporting outside of the normal range for the age and gender of the individual.
