Make an appointment for fashion bargains at nonprofit’s pop-up sale

Private shopping appointments are the height of luxury typically reserved for an afternoon on Worth Avenue or the cushy confines of a high-end department store.

But what if you could have such an intimate shopping experience while scooping up designer deals and benefitting a nonprofit that empowers women to achieve economic independence?

Enter Dress for Success Palm Beaches' reimagined Couture Corner Pop-Up Sale coming Thursday, Nov. 5 to Saturday, Nov. 7.

In another example of a pandemic pivot, the nonprofit is moving its annual fundraiser from an empty storefront at the Palm Beach Outlets in West Palm Beach to its Palm Springs headquarters for some socially distanced shopping.

“The COVID pandemic has not deterred us from continuing to provide services to the local community of underserved women, and to help keep things running we’ve reconfigured our annual Shop for Success Pop-Up fundraising sale,” Caressa Gonzalez, event chairwoman and a DFSPB board member, said in a statement. “We’re creating a very safe and uniquely intimate shopping experience that promises jaw-dropping fashionista finds at as much as 70% off.”

The inventory comes from items donated to Dress for Success that the organization is unable to use for its clothing closet that helps to outfit clients looking for jobs.

Organizers are teasing deals such as a nearly new Armani dress for $75, a pre-owned St. John jacket for $75 and a mint-condition Chanel handbag for $150.

All proceeds benefit the organization’s job readiness programs for women. Last year’s sale raised $34,000.

Here’s how the event will work this year:

Shoppers must make an appointment to shop for any of the sale’s three days.

For early-bird shoppers, Thursday will be a ticketed event with tiered pricing and 90-minute shopping intervals. At 8 a.m., six shoppers will be allowed in for $100 each. The boutique will be sanitized and at 10 am. another six guests can enter for $75 each. After that, tickets are $50 for the rest of the day with the final appointment at 6 p.m. Guests also will receive a swag bag.

Admission is free on Friday and Saturday, but appointments are required. Slots begin at 8 a.m. Friday with the final appointment at 6 p.m. Saturday’s first time slot is 10 a.m. with the final one at 6 p.m.

In addition to high-end designers, a variety of styles from Ann Taylor, J. Crew and Talbots, among other labels, will be available in petite to plus sizes. A selection of shoes, handbags, jewelry and other accessories will be for sale.

Dress for Success Palm Beaches is at 2459 S. Congress Avenue, second floor, in Palm Springs. To schedule an appointment, visit bit.ly/36WCZYN. Call 561-249-3898 or visit palmbeaches.dressforsuccess.org/ for information about the nonprofit’s services.
