Mar. 2—WINDHAM — Even a pandemic can't stop local roofing and home improvement business owner Scott DaRos from producing quality work.
In fact, it's been a record- breaking year for business for APR Roofing and Home Improvements LLC, according to DaRos, who opened up his business, APR Roofing and Home Improvements, six years ago in South Windham.
"At the beginning (of COVID-19), it was difficult," DaRos said. " But in general, we've had a record- breaking year."
No matter the situation or time of year, homeowners will always be finding something that needs fixing, DaRos said, adding he and his workers follow the local, state and federal guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
" We can conduct business at a very safe distance," DaRos said.
APR Roofing offers year-round services to homeowners and small business owners that not only showcase the company's attention to detail, but also come at affordable prices, according to DaRos.
" We offer a wide range of home improvement services. We do roofing, siding and building on anything, whether it's a carport, garage or house," DaRos said.
Such services may include construction and replacement for decking and railings, remodeling, treatment/ repair consultation and project assessments.
" We've really excelled into mastering our craft," DaRos said, referring to his crew's roofing abilities.
" I'm passionate about what we do and that extends down through my guys."

One material that has gained popularity over the last year is metal, according to DaRos.
Metal roofing materials, such as metal shingles and metal standing seams, have increased in demand due to their longevity and affordability. With a lifespan of about 60 years, metal roofing products seem to surpass materials such as asphalt and cedar, which have lifespans of approximately 30 and 15 years, respectively, according to DaRos.
Metal materials are also manufactured in just about every color, allowing the homeowner to choose from a wide spectrum of colors.

A Willington resident and Windham Technical High School alum, DaRos has been reading blueprints since he was 17 years old.
" Building a house gives me not only great joy, but also joy and happiness seeing the homeowner's dreams develop," DaRos said.
While working with clients, DaRos said he often offers advice and tips on how to keep the home exterior in top condition, such as the importance of limiting the number of evergreen trees around the home to prevent moss buildup.
"It's not always about roofing. It's about taking that extra step to protect their bushes, grounds, sidewalks, their cars," DaRos said.
